I have tried the soft reset ( power button and forward scan) to no avail. If I shut it down and let it sit for a few minutes it will work again. It happens about 5-6 times per year. So I bought an aftermarket Kenwood double DIN from Crutchfield with the recommended PAC unit and the replacement dashboard kit. The problem I have is when the PAC module is wired up the Kenwood harness and plugged into the Ford plugs from the stock stereo, I do not get power to the new stereo when the key is on. The airbag light will also stay on when it’s in this mode of not powering up. A day or two goes by and it all works normally again.I took it to the dealer, I'm no mechanic, so I'll have to cough up $800 to get it fixed. Any more problems like this and I may not consider a Ford for my next vehicle…If the factory does work, you did make some sort of adjustment to the aftermarket head unit. Now that you have disconnected the power to it, the aftermarket unit should have returned to the factory defaults. Try it again, if the speakers work with the factory unit (minus the cd changer).
