It's an Ultra with a captured double spring set-up. I wouldn't switch the springs cause it's a PITA. If it does it with the Kimber mags (don't slam them into the gun when they are empty) then the next thing I would do is find a shooter who shoots short 1911's and let them shoot the gun.The activation device for the laser is a small button just under the trigger guard, covered by the black strap with the Kimber logo. The button is depressed by the middle finger while grasping the grip. Keep in mind, these two new pistols were my 4th and 5th Kimber Ultra Carry II's. Numbers 1-3 (purchased years ago) have shot fine (my reason for buying two new ones).
