If you're doing a mixed build where spread isn't your primary ammo, then having ballistics at 2 is good enough. I am using a pre-sunbreak pierce build with the Narga LBG. Pre-sunbreak + narga is what I used for him but I'm sure it's far from optimal. Pierce 1 ammo economy is awful. Grab Jyuratodus LBG (in 5*) or go all in on Nargacuga (6*). Jyura is probably easier to make since you don't have to grind out narga marrow/medulla, assuming you're cool with RF Spread 2 (honestly pretty fun now that the recoil on it isn't stupid). If you're dying for a workable LBG right now the Mizutsune LBG ... 2.5k LBG uses in MHRS. The sets vary a lot. Try to use pieces that give critical eye like the Risen Teostra pieces. Risen Kushala pieces give Spare Shot and Attack. Valstrax arms give Critical Boost and Attack while Flaming Espinas gives Attack, Spare Shot, and Intrepid Heart too. The best pierce 3 hbg that is walkable gets trashed on by the rapid 2 narga lbg. Same is true for almost every ammo type except spread which is roughly even.
