William Blake (1757 - 1827) Visionary, poet, painter, print-maker (engraver and etcher). Active in London and in Felpham, Sussex (1800-03). Enrolled probably in July 1779 as a student at the Royal Academy of Arts; first exhibited at the Academy in 1780.

The Royal Academy owns many plaster casts of antique sculpture, but this is the only original sculpture from antiquity in the RA Collection. It's attributed to an artist called Timotheus, and thought to have been made c.375–350 BC.
