Nov 23, 2021 · 2011 Traverse LT, 3.6L 126k. Noticed the dash voltmeter showing about 15 volts. Checked at the posts under the hood, 15.3v. Usually reads high, sometimes it will drop to 14v. Replaced alternator, Optima reman. Still have the exact same problem. I find it highly unlikely both alternators had the exact same issue. Remove Bracket - Take off the bracket that secures the battery. 5. Remove Cables - How to disconnect the cables the right way. 6. Clean Cables - Clean with baking soda, water and a wire brush. 7. New Battery - Install new battery and prevent corrosion. 8. Secure Battery - Replace the bracket to secure the new battery. With a fully charged battery, put the key in your Traverse’s ignition and turn it like you are going to start the engine. Leave the key in the on position. You’ll see the little padlock symbol, security light, or service theft deterrent system message. Perhaps a lot of 2012's received volt gauges that were not calibrated properly. Also the long run of the battery cables to the battery in the back seat affects charging rates and voltage.
